All recent versions of the iPhones have 3.5 inches display. 

Sources told the Cupertino, CA, company ordered larger display screens from suppliers in South Korea and Japan. 

The screens will measure 4-inch diagonally, meaning that the width of the phone would not change, instead it would become taller. 

Reuter sources added that Apple’s decision to equip the next iPhone with a bigger screen is a part of a competitive response to Samsung Electronics Co. 

Samsung, Apple’s principal competitor, unveiled its Galaxy Nexus smartphone with a 4.65-inch display, and Galaxy Note with a 5.3-inch. 

The next generation iPhone is expected to go into production as soon as August, after the screen production will begin by June.

Disadvantages

- Depositing cash or paper checks becomes more complicated - To deposit money to an online bank account, you would normally do so by electronic funds transfer. So if your pay check is deposited electronically and you don’t often receive paper checks or need to deposit cash, an online bank can be a good solution for you. 
Otherwise, you would have some options to deposit checks or cash, but they can be a bit awkward. The first choice would be to keep an account at a brick and mortar Massachusetts bank, deposit the check or cash and then do a transfer to your online bank account. Some online banks have made partnerships with other banks allowing you to make deposits at their ATM. You would also have the option of mailing paper checks, but processing times in this case can take one to two weeks.

- Less personalized service - Many consumers, especially those in the older generation, appreciate the personal service that they get from a local bank branch and have come to get to know the staff working there. But with a purely online bank, this disappears and the only form of contact will be by web or by phone. That way, many who appreciate being able to deal with a human being in person may not really like dealing with a “faceless” bank.

An average of 200,000 customers will start receiving letters this week, the bank said. Qualifying customers will see their monthly mortgage payments reduced by an average of 30 percent. 

The second-largest U.S. bank began making some reduction offers last month, starting with homeowners who were already in the modification process, according to sources. 

To be eligible for principal reductions, customers will have to meet certain criteria, including: having a loan owned or serviced by Bank of America; owing more on the mortgage than their property is worth; and being at least 60 days behind on payments as of the end of January.

“The Board’s decision to increase our annual dividend demonstrates the confidence we have in the fundamental strength of PepsiCo’s business and our future growth prospects,” said Indra Nooyi, Pepsico Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. 

“PepsiCo is focused on delivering sustainable long-term growth and strong cash returns to shareholders,” Nooyi added. 

The company said this is 40th consecutive increase in its annual dividend. 

PepsiCo’s product mix consists of 63 percent foods, and 37 percent beverages. The company’s current products lines include several hundred brands: Tropicana, 7Up, Doritos, Lipton Teas, Quaker Foods, Cheetos, Mirinda, Aquafina, Pepsi Max, Tostitos, etc.

According to sources, Apple shipped 35 million iPhones, compared with Samsung’s 32 million Galaxy smartphones and Nokia’s 12 million smartphones.

 “Samsung’s surpassing Nokia for cell phone market leadership represents not only a changing of the guard among handset brands but also a fundamental shift in the structure of the wireless market,” said Ian Fogg, an IHS analyst.

However, Samsung Galaxy smartphones couldn’t surpass Apple’s iPhone shipments.

“Samsung and Apple are outcompeting most of their major rivals and the smartphone market is at risk of becoming a two-horse race,” Neil Mawston, Executive Director at Strategy Analytics, said in a statement.

The company said today that Samsung’s smartphone growth helped it to achieve a fiscal first quarter that set a record high.

February’s sales pace was revised higher to 353,000 units, the fastest pace since November 2009, from the previously reported 313,000 units. 

January new-home sales were also revised higher by 11,000 to a 329,000 annual rate. 

Despite the monthly decline, sales were better than expected. March sales were 7.5% higher than they were a year earlier. 

According to Commerce Department, sales price of new homes was $234,500 in March, down 1 percent or $2,400 from the February price. However, the median price was up 6.3 percent or $14,000 compared to March last year. 

The S&P/Case-Shiller home price index showed that prices fell in February from January in 16 of the 20 cities it tracks.

McDonald’s primarily sells hamburgers, cheeseburgers, chicken, french fries, breakfast items, soft drinks, shakes and desserts.

The world’s most valuable company fell $25.10 or 4.2%, to $580.13. It’s now down 8.8% from its record close above $636 a week ago. 

“Any disappointment in Apple could lead to a significant selloff in the short term,” said Channing Smith, co-manager at Capital Advisors Growth Fund. 

“Are we long term believers in Apple? Absolutely, but as we move forward…you get up here to over $600 and you say, ‘Hmm, this is getting pretty frothy, expectations may be getting out of line.” 

The Cupertino, California, company lost about $50 billion of its market capitalization during the five-day slump. 

Even after the slump that culminated on Monday, the stock increased 43%, and 77 % over the past 12 months, according to media sources.
