Movie studios drive 63 percent of mobile entertainment spending

Entertainment companies led all sectors in terms of mobile advertising spending in the recently completed second quarter, according to Millennial Media.

Diving into those numbers, movie studios accounted for almost two-thirds – 63 percent – of the spending all by themselves, driven mainly by big mobile ad campaigns for Hollywood’s big summer movies.

 

Spending is rising, according to Millennial, not only on advertising but also on full mobile sites for movies and other entertainment properties as well. Studios and other companies are attracted to a more full-featured mobile presence in large part because of the rise of the iPhone, which allows not just for a better mobile web experience but also has the option.
